I look at it, mentally suggest shapes, move around it as if to get acquainted.

When I have chosen the format of my canvas, it is necessary for me to come to terms with its limits, to infuse myself with it as a whole.

As soon as I feel it mine, I am ready: our complicity can begin. From the first strokes, life is formed; there is dialogue, the canvas suggests, I answer.

One after the other, we participate; drawings, shapes, colours. My hand sometimes rushes over the canvas as if carried, glides smoothly, it’s a treat! Or alternatively, everything blocks, light forsakes me, I feel empty, alone...

Here begins the challenge, the dialogue with the soul. Where is that inner force which generates the creation of a work aspiring to infinity?

At these difficult times, I lose my way.

A pause is necessary to face the issue. In prayer and reflection I recover the strength to persevere in full accord with myself.

On my own, I can do nothing, the state of grace is essential.

Drawing, colour, technique, even craftsmanship are only means available to the painter, but the thrill of the work is the expression of the soul. It is only when I feel in perfect osmosis with my painting that, transcended by an immense joy, I deem the work finished.
